April 22, 2025 – General Mubarakh Muganga, the Chief of Defense Staff of the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), is currently in Algeria on an official visit aimed at reinforcing defense ties between the two nations.
During his visit, General Muganga was received by General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the Algerian People's National Army. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, sharing experiences, and addressing mutual security interests across the continent.
Both parties emphasized the importance of collaboration in areas such as military training, intelligence sharing, and peacekeeping efforts. The visit reflects a deepening of Rwanda–Algeria relations, especially in the security and defense sectors.
This marks another significant step in Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to enhance its defense partnerships with countries across Africa. The meeting also featured symbolic exchanges and reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to working together on regional stability and development.
General Muganga’s visit to Algeria follows a series of similar engagements, including his recent diplomatic stop in Ethiopia in March 2025, where he signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.
